Wessex was Thomas Hardy's wire-haired terrier, famous for biting visitors, and when he died in 1926 Hardy wrote this poem in his voice, speaking to the people he left at home.
"Should you call as when I knew you,
Wistful ones,
Should you call as when I knew you,
Shared your home;"
All four verses run down the page in typewriter type on aged cream, inside a fine double border, with Hardy's name at the foot. In the bottom corner a small ink drawing shows a garden gate standing open between two posts. A tender gift for anyone who has lost a dog and still listens for them on the stairs.
Printed on premium lustre paper with a professional finish, and carefully packaged to arrive in perfect condition.
Choose from five sizes, unframed or in a sleek black frame.
Perfect for:
- Remembering a much-loved dog
- Pet sympathy gifts
- Dog lovers and poetry lovers
- Hardy fans
