Thomas Hardy wrote this poem after his terrier Wessex died in 1926, imagining the dog talking to the household he had shared for thirteen years.
"Should you call as when I knew you,
I shall not turn to view you,
I shall not listen to you,
Shall not come."
The poem is set in typewriter type on aged cream, with the full title Dead Wessex the Dog to the Household running down the right-hand side. In the top corner a small window glows warm yellow, as if someone has left the light on. It's a quiet, tender piece for remembering a dog, and a kind gift for a friend who has just lost theirs.
Printed on premium lustre paper with a professional finish, and carefully packaged to arrive in perfect condition.
Choose from five sizes, unframed or in a sleek black frame.
Perfect for:
- Remembering a much-loved dog
- Pet sympathy gifts
- Dog lovers and poetry lovers
- Hardy fans
